Striving for Survival

We are all organisms striving for survival, moved forward by the single instinct that matters: reproduction and the propagation of our kind.

what is real

What is the real? When the blades of your enemies are slashing ferociously at you, and your life hangs in the balance, you will know.

If you do not, you have lived your life in vain.

carefree ride

There comes a point in everybody’s life when you realize the stakes have suddenly changed. The carefree ride of your life slams into a stone wall; all those years of merely bouncing along, life taking you where you want to go, abruptly end.

love is a passion

Love is a passion for life shared with another person. You fall in love with a person who you think is wonderful. It’s your deepest appreciation of the value of that individual, and that individual is a reflection of what you value most in life. Love, for sound reasons, can be one of life’s greatest rewards. You shouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed about being in love.

life is the future

Life is the future, not the past. The past can teach us, through experience, how to accomplish things in the future, comfort us with cherished memories, and provide the foundation of what has already been accomplished. But only the future holds life. To live in the past is to embrace what is dead. To live life to its fullest, each day must be created anew. As rational thinking beings, we must use intellect, not a blind devotion to what has come before, to make rational choices.

life is precious

Life is precious. That’s why sacrifice for freedom is rational: it is for life itself and your ability to live it that you act, since life without freedom is the slow, sure death of self-sacrifice to the good of mankind-who is always someone else. Mankind is just a collection of individuals. Why should everyone’s life be more important, more precious, more valuable than yours? Mindless mandatory self-sacrifice is insane.

just words

We use so many words to describe what happens to us, and it all amounts to the same thing. We live out our lives as we are meant to live them - with some choice, with some chance, but mostly as a result of the persons we are.

world and boundaries

We cannot pretend that the world begins and ends at the boundaries we might make for it. Sometimes, we acknowledge that it extends itself into our lives in ways that we might prefer it wouldn’t, and we must face up to the challenges it offers.

life and dreams

What is life if not the shadow of a fleeting dream?
